You, as my subject, always get messy.
I don't know how to collect the letters
of every adjective that describes you—
only I feel everything.
I don't know how to put up words,
to combine them in one paragraph,
so I can explain how much I adore you.
It's hard to write about you
and not think of a million reasons
why I wanted you in the first place.
My thoughts of you overwhelm me—
leaving me staring at a blank piece of paper.

I am selfless enough to
make you my world.
You are selfish enough to
claim me.

How long will this silence torment me
before I fully reach for my heart
and savagely tear it in front of you
until you realize that I love you?

If I write your name on one of my papers,
I know you'll never be mine.
But how can I resist?
Ever since I met you,
all I ever wanted was to write your initials
on every possible surface
so that the world knows
who captured this little heart of mine.

How nice it is to feel your lips on my neck
as you whisper in my ear how much you love me.

I want you to unravel your old scars for me.
I want to see you barefoot with honesty.
I want to skin you alive with the truth,
releasing the palpable sadness you carry.
For you to move freely.
For you to breathe lightly.
You have been taking deep breaths for a long time now.
Please, let me share the weight of your sorrow.
